MOUAU Students Protest FG’s Decision Of Scrapping Non-Agric Courses In The School

MOUAU Students Protest FG’s Decision Of Scrapping Non-Agric Courses In The School

tudents of the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia, on Thursday protested against the Federal Government’s policy scrapping seven courses in the college.
The affected courses are Accounting, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Economics, Entrepreneurial Studies, Industrial Relations and Business Administration.
The students protested to the office of the Dean of the college, Prof John Ihendinihu, and called on the management of the university to initiate steps toward the restoration of the courses.
The President, Association of Management Science Students (AMSS) of the university, Mr Uzoma Onuoha, said that they were disturbed by the news of the scrapping of the courses.
Onuoha said that they were worried by the development and wanted to know what the management was doing about it.
“We appeal to you sir to ensure that something is done fast to restore the programmes.
“We can never be violent or engage in any act that would bring shame to the university as we continue to express our dissatisfaction with the policy,” he said.
The students carried placards, some of which read: “Restore our programme in JAMB brochure.
“The scrapped management programmes were approved by relevant professional bodies” and “Management programmes in MOUAU have been in existence since 2003’.”
Responding, the dean said that the college with the university management was on top of the situation and hoped to get positive response from the relevant authority.

No UTME Candidate Will Be Left Out Of The Registration Process – JAMB

No UTME Candidate Will Be Left Out Of The Registration Process – JAMB

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has stated that no candidate would be left out of the registration process despite having a week before the end of the exercise.
He made this known during an interview with newsmen in Abuja
after inspecting some registration centres.
At the Digital Bridge Institute (one of the registration centres), Prof. Oloyede averted what could have turned out a major protest by moving over 100 candidates who were already agitating due to the slow pace of registration in the centre to other centres where there were less pressure.
The JAMB Boss ruled out the possibility of extending the registration deadline despite the challenges faced by the candidates.
According to him“About 871, 576 candidates have been registered as at Wednesday evening.
“We are going to 1,467,000 candidates. “What remains is 595,647 and we still have a whole week.
“No candidate will be left unattended to at the closing of this exercise.
“You do not want me to extend just for the sake of extension because I monitor on my screen.
“That is why there is a difference between the closing date for registration and the closing date for sale.
“By the time we sell, we will know how many that have bought but have not registered.”
When asked if how he would comply if summoned by the House Of Representatives, he said: “If I am invited, who am I not to answer them?

Have You Received Any Info From JAMB? Enter Here – Mock Exam

Have You Received Any Info From JAMB? Enter Here – Mock Exam

believe all our candidates are ready to test the new platform & technology from JAMB, and we believe they will give their honest review of the new system on this website, once they are done.
Since it’s just 2 days to the exam, JAMB ought to have sent out more details to candidates concerning the planned exam on Saturday.
We are expecting details confirming the Date of the Mock exam for the candidates, their venue (or CBT centre to write) and the time for the exam.
Since the mock exam is supposed to be a prototype of the actual exam, we expect the above information to have been sent out by now.
All those who indicated interest to write the Mock Exam, please check your emails properly to ensure an important information has not goneto your bulk or spam folder.
If you don’t see any email, please visit the JAMB portal at www.jamb.org.ng and login with your account details, to see if further information have been updated on your profile concerning the JAMB Mock Exam.
If you find anything, please don’t hesitate to come back here and let us know your findings, so as to alert other candidates.
If JAMB has not sent out messages concerning the Mock Exam by now, we only wonder how prepared they are for the 2017 UTME.

What’s IJMB?
Interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) is a programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It is a programme that enables students gain direct admission into 200level without Joint Admission Matriculation Board (J.A.M.B) examination.
I’ll not be wrong to say I.J.M.B was designed to ameliorate problems of admission for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria University instead of JAMB.The examination was formerly conducted in May in designated Polytechnics and colleges Of Education, while the results was released by August. But guess what? Things have gone better. The examination for IJMB is now february every year.
One of the major reasons it’s better this way is because candidates do not need to be scared of direct entry form closing soon. Another reason is that the result comes earlier than usual. This will enable students to know their points on time and therefore choose universities and courses that will guarantee them admission prior to July when various schools will begin POST U.T.M.E

WHAT IS IJMB
Interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) is a programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It is a programme that enables students gain direct admission into 200level without Join Admission Matriculation Board (J.A.M.B) examination. I’ll not be wrong to say I.J.M.B was designed to ameliorate problems of admission for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria University instead of JAMB.
The examination was formerly conducted in May in designated Polytechnics and colleges Of Education, while the results was released by August. But guess what? Things have gone better. The examination for IJMB is now february every year. One of the major reasons its better this way is because candidate do not need to be scared of direct entry form closing soon. Another reason is that the result comes earlier than usual. This will enable student know their points on time and therefore choose universities and courses that will guarantee them admission prior to july when various schools will begin POST U.T.M.E i.e. between April and June, students are to purchase a direct entry form from JAMB office and apply to any school of their choice. When admission begins in September and October, they are then short listed for admission into their chosen institution. The number of subjects a student can enter for is (3)in respect to their chosen profession. Mean While, candidates with deficiency in O’level English Language and Mathematics can also remedy these subjects by registering for the O’level. SCORES GRADES POINTS
70-100% A 5Points
60-69% B 4Points
50-59% C 3Points
45-49% D 2Points
40-44% E 1Points
39%Below F 0Points For a student that register for (3) Sujects with grade such as;
Physics. : A
Chemistry. : B
Biology. : C The Total number of points scored will be as follows:
Physics A= 5Points
Chemistry B= 4Points
Biology C= 3Points
Total 12 Point + 1 Points Bonus A point is awarded to the point scored by every candidate provided he or she do not score (F) in any of the subject entered for.
NOTE: the minimum point required by most universities for admission is 5points I.e D, E, E plus 1 point bonus.
Thanks for reading, Success is yours.
DON'T LET JAMB FRUSTRATE YOU

JAMB Aspirants should Not ChooseUnauthorized Courses In Specialized Varsities Says FG

The 2017 UTME registration is expected to commence soon. Already, many candidates are
eagerly waiting for the announcement.
However, only a few have taken time to decide on the course of study to apply for.
In deciding a course of study, there are few things you should bear in mind;
Firstly, you need to consider if you have interest or academic aptitude for the course you wish to apply for Another is, to verify if the course you
intend to study is offered in the institution you are applying to.
You are also to verify the accreditation status of that course in such institution if not you will just waste your time studying the course.
Most importantly, you need to verify if you meet the O’level and UTME Subjects requirements for that particular course.
Each course of study has a specific O’level and UTME Subjects requirements you must meet
before you are admitted to study that course.
What works for an Engineering course doesn't work for a medical course.
Many UTME Candidates often make the mistake of choosing a course that they do not meet the requirements for during UTME registration.
Thereby disqualifying themselves of admission from the onset.
No school can admit you to
study a course you do not have the
requirements.
Even if your name appears on the admission list, you will be disqualified during the screening,
verification or clearance process for that course you may be given another course which you may not have interest in.
Like I mentioned earlier, the UTME registration for 2017 is yet to commence.
If I were you, this is the time I would use to make the decision concerning which course of study to choose and institution before registration commence.

JAMB Aspirants should Not ChooseUnauthorized Courses In Specialized Varsities Says FG

Federal Government of Nigeria has directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to delete all specialized courses or
programmes being offered by universities of technologies and universities of agriculture from its portal.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu who gave the directive in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by JAMB’s Head of
Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin also directed these specialized universities to stick to their core mandates which they were set up to carry and desist from running programmes which had no bearing to their foundation.
The government, which stated that it had observed that some of these universities of agriculture and technology had derailed from its
responsibilities by running some of the programmes they are not created for, warned candidates billed to seat for this year’s unified
tertiary matriculation examination (UTME not to be deceived into choosing such programmes as
they are illegal and are not provided for in the brochure.
The statement reads: “Government notes the unfortunate situation were Universities of Agriculture offer programmes in Law,Management courses such as Accounting,
Banking and Finance, Business Adminsitration among others.
As if that was not enough some
institutions change the nomenclature of some of
the courses to read for instance Banking and Finance, Engineering, Accounting Technology, among
other names. This is an aberration and should be stopped with immediate effect.
“Specialized Universities are University set up to pursue specific courses/ programmes to steer
the need of manpower in a particular sector of the economy. Some of these specialized institutions include Universities such as Universities of Agriculture, Universities of Technologies, Universities of Medicine, amongst others.
The Federal government has observed that these institutions have derailed from their statutory responsibility thereby running
programmes that are antithetical to their mandates.
“In view of this ugly development, the Hon Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to delete all such courses on
its portal and all candidates desirous of sitting for the 2017 Universities Tertiary Matriculations Examination are advised not to be hoodwinked
into such programmes as they are illegal and are not provided for in our brochure.”
Meanwhile, JAMB said it has not started the sale of 2017 UTME forms as it is being alleged.
The board, which urged candidates to exercise patience, said the delay in selling the form is due to its desire to reduce the challenges associated
with the conduct of the examination.
“Again the Board will want to state that it has not commenced the sales of the 2017 UTME application documents. Candidates are urged to
exercise patience as JAMB is putting final preparations towards commencing the sales.
“The delay has been occasioned by the Board’s desire to reduce to the barest minimum challenges associated with the conduct of the
Board’s examination. However, in the final analysis, Nigerians should note that admissions will be conducted within the stipulated dateline.
“In view of the above, candidates and parents are advised not to pay money to any agent, bank for any registration as JAMB has not and will not appoint any agent. Soon, we will commence the sales and the Board will make elaborate
announcement with jingles to ensure that the public is well informed of the commencement of sales.
Our earnest attempt is to come near
perfection in the conduct of the next
examination and we plead with the public to support the Board’s effort in ensuring that the Nigerian candidate gets the best,” the statement added.

JAMB,NYSC Move Against Mobilization of Over-Aged Corps Members

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the National Youth Service Corps have resolved to step up measures to check fraudulent practices by prospective corps members.
This was the subject of discussion during the visit by the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, to the Director-General, Brigadier
General Sulaiman Kazaure, at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters.
Professor Oloyede noted that applications forbchange of date of birth being forwarded to JAMB were mostly from over-aged persons
who want to get mobilized for the national service.
He explained that since his assumption of duty as Registrar, JAMB had been taking measures
to block sharps practices, while also seeking enhanced inter-agency cooperation in that regard.
In his remarks, the NYSC Director-General,Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, described JAMB as a critical stakeholder in the NYSC,
and welcomed the agency’s renewed
commitment to eliminating sharp practices.
Kazaure said a bilateral committee would be set to address all the areas of concern raised by the Registrar.
He thanked the JAMB Management for the cordial relationship with the NYSC.
